About the route

For more than a century, coastal ships have sailed every day between Bergen and Kirkenes, calling at dozens of ports along the Norwegian coast. Northbound the voyage takes about six days: past Ålesund's art nouveau harbour and Trondheim, across the Arctic Circle to Bodø and the Lofoten Islands, on to Tromsø, round the North Cape at Honningsvåg and finally to Kirkenes.

This template draws the main ports as one long sea journey with a ship and its wake. It is a good fit for a 9:16 video, since the coast runs north. The Nordic style is preselected; Midnight suits a winter trip under the northern lights.

Tips for your video

  • Mark the Arctic Circle crossing between Trondheim and Bodø with a flag.
  • Use the 9:16 format: the whole coast fits in a vertical frame.
  • An Overview camera with a slight drift keeps all 2,000 km of coastline in view.
