What's new

v0.4.0

Globe, sound and more ways to travel

  • 3D globe: show the map as a round planet. Long flights curve over the Earth, the atmosphere glows at the edge, and round-the-world trips turn the globe as they go.
  • Voice-over: record narration for each scene while it plays, or add an audio file. The music dips automatically while you speak.
  • Sound effects: a sound for each way of travel, a whoosh between scenes and a chime at stops, generated in your browser.
  • Music, voice-over and effects are mixed into one soundtrack, and the preview plays exactly what the MP4 will contain.
  • Four new map styles: Watercolour, Pastel, Mediterranean and Dusk.
  • Five new transports with their own animated art: tuk-tuk, overland truck, tram, cable car and paraglider.
  • Six new route templates: the Great Ocean Road and North Coast 500 (along the real roads), the Tour du Mont Blanc, Japan’s Golden Route, Greek island hopping and the Hurtigruten coastal voyage.
  • Five new guides: scenes, music and voice-over, routes along real roads, transparent overlays and the 3D globe.
  • Clicking a field name no longer switches the first option of a button group.

v0.3.0

Scenes, music, roads and phones

  • Multiple scenes: split a trip into up to 20 chapters, each with its own route, camera, timing and title card.
  • Scene transitions: the camera flies from one scene to the next, fades through black, or cuts. Earlier routes stay on the map, full or faded.
  • Finale: an optional zoom-out over the whole trip at the end. The distance counter adds up across scenes.
  • Follow roads: car, bus, bike and walking legs snap to real roads, cycle routes and footpaths.
  • Music: add your own track with volume, start point, fades and looping, mixed into the MP4.
  • New export formats: transparent WebM (route and titles only, to layer over your footage) and GIF.
  • Rendering carries on when you switch to another tab.
  • Phone and tablet editing: a touch layout with the video on top and the tools at the bottom.

v0.2.0

Animated vehicles and scene layouts

  • Animated vehicles instead of icons: planes that climb with a shadow and contrail, trains pulling carriages, boats with wakes, walkers leaving footprints, spinning helicopter rotors, a bobbing hot-air balloon and more.
  • Adjustable flight arc height, and a railway-track line style for trains.
  • Fading comet trail, a glow where the line is drawn, and pulses when the line reaches a stop.
  • Scene layouts in one click: Clean, Cinematic, Journal, Data and Minimal.
  • Title cards (cinematic, lower third or corner), leg labels and a live distance counter in km or miles.
  • Frame finishing: vignette, film grain and cinematic letterbox bars.
  • The follow camera now frames each stop-to-stop section, so long road trips stay close.
