About the route
The Great Ocean Road runs about 240 km along the south-west coast of Victoria, from Torquay to near Warrnambool. Returned soldiers built it after the First World War, and it is dedicated to those who died in it. The road clings to cliffs above the Southern Ocean, passes the surf town of Lorne and the fishing harbour of Apollo Bay, and turns inland through the Otway rainforest before reaching the limestone stacks of the Twelve Apostles.
This template starts in Melbourne and follows the real road, snapped to OpenStreetMap, to Warrnambool. Open it in the editor, add photo prints at the lookouts, and use a tilted follow camera for a coastal drive feel. The Sunset map style is preselected; Satellite shows the cliffs and beaches as they really look.
Tips for your video
- Pause at the Twelve Apostles for two or three seconds and add a photo print.
- A heading-up follow camera at zoom 9 to 10 keeps the coastline sweeping across the frame.
- For a sunset finish, switch the video to 9:16 and end on the last stop with a long outro.
